Here at Sheffield Assay Office we are delighted to be exhibiting at the Jewel Ads Service & Technology Pop Up Event from the 2nd to the 11th of February. The entire team here at Sheffield Assay Office were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of legendary local silversmith, Katey Felton on the 21st December 2021.

Whether you have old jewellery, dental scrap, sweeps from the jewellery manufacturing process or other precious metal containing alloys such as catalytic converters, here we explain how we can melt these items down to produce a solid bar of metal along with a test certificate detailing its precious metal content. 

Each year the Sheffield Assay Office offers a commission opportunity to emerging silversmiths in their second year of the Starter Studio Programme for Designer Silversmiths and Jewellers at Yorkshire Artspace. In 2021, an expert panel selected a beautiful design of three silver vases by Georgia Clipsham.

The annual Mary Parsons Charity service for retired silversmiths returned to Sheffield Cathedral on December 27th. Here at Sheffield Assay Office, we were delighted to see the service take place as it had been cancelled last year due to the pandemic.

At the fourth annual Professional Jeweller awards, our Assay Master was presented with a very special accolade as he took home the 'Lifetime Achievement' award.

A huge congratulations to our Assay Master, Ashley Carson who has received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Professional Jeweller Awards 2021!
