Sheffield Assay Office Master, Ashley Carson recently awarded prizes to three students from SHU's Jewellery, Materials and Design course - celebrating their final graduation projects.

The team here at Sheffield Assay Office were delighted to recently host the Sheffield Town Trust for a very fine silver dinner.

To help promote the importance of hallmarks, the British Hallmarking Council, along with the four UK Assay Offices, have created a new initiative - the Hallmarking Awareness & Online Learning award.

Lab Grown Diamonds are continuing to rise in popularity.  As a younger generation enters the diamond market, consumers are generally more price conscious and are gravitating to more suatainable products. However, these requirements now seem to be capturing a wider audience, especially with the introduction of certified stones on larger sizes.  

Across the global jewellery industry, the origins of diamonds and their traceability has always been at the forefront of discussions. In recent news, huge brand such as Cartier and Bulgari have taken steps to incorporate the latest developments in diamond traceability.

On Wednesday 1st June, Sheffield Assay Office will be closing at 2pm in preparation for its Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
