Sheffield Assay Office staff and Guardians raised a whopping £754 for breast cancer research on this year's 'Wear it Pink' day.

Today, Business Secretary Peter Kyle has confirmed the Government's commitment to the essential role of Hallmarking but has announced plans to abolish the British Hallmarking Council (BHC), with its functions set to be absorbed into the Department for Business and Trade as part of the government’s 'blitz on business bureaucracy.'

In September, Assay Master Ashley Carson was delighted to present three prizes to exceptionally talented graduating students from the Sheffield Hallam University MA Jewellery and Metalwork course.

The Ryder Cup, first presented in 1927, was crafted by Mappin & Webb, a company founded in Sheffield in 1775, and it carries the city’s hallmark of excellence. With Europe taking home the win once again over the weekend, the trophy is a perfect reminder of Sheffield's craftsmanship shining on the world stage.

Award winning silversmith, Shinta Nakajima, was commissioned as the 16th different silversmith to design and make a unique, original and one-off centre piece for the permanent St Leger Stakes Trophy.

This September saw the whole Assay Office team enjoy a fabulous away-day reward, at the famous Doncaster St Leger Stakes.
