The Sheffield Assay Office 250th Anniversary Calendar
Published: 22nd November 2022
2023 will mark the 250th anniversary of the Sheffield Assay Office and what better way to mark this occasion than to highlight and promote the work of a few of our talented silversmiths and jewellers.
Back in October, we called out to our registered silversmiths and jewellers to submit an image of their work that had been submitted for assay and hallmarking in 2021/ 2.
We are delighted to say that the entries came flooding in and we were spoilt for choice. So thank you to everyone who took the time to send in their entries - there were some stunning pieces of work and we are sorry that we could only select twelve!

Legacy Brooch 03 from Plasticity Collection - Designed by Deborah Beck
Made from recycled silver, recycled single-use plastic, carnelian, stainless steel
This Brooch from Plasticity Collection is inspired by the impact of human activity on the planet. Deborah collects plastic litter (mostly bottles and bottle tops) that she finds on her daily dog walks along the local river path in Holmfirth. She recycles this by hand in her studio to create a repurposed raw material which she then cuts, files, shapes and sets within recycled silver structures inspired by the straight lines of human industry.
