**CANCELLED** Insuring your precious items: The importance of an up-to-date jewellery and watch valuation.

There are many reasons why it is important to get your precious items valued.  These can be insurance purposes, probate, family division or to find out the resale value of your item.

Most people are under the impression that home contents insurance covers all their belongings and they will be replaced if they are damaged or stolen.  However, this is not always the case; insurance companies impose a ‘single item limit’ for items that are not specified, which is typically between £1500-£2500 and this means you may be out of pocket if the full value of your precious items fall beyond that limit.

All policies are different, so it is important you check yours and also ensure that it covers you for items removed from the home if you need this cover.

To be fully insured, it is important to check your single item limit on your policy and get your jewellery items listed individually on your contents insurance policy if they need to be.  This will safeguard you if you are in the unfortunate situation where you need to make a claim following loss, damage or theft.

An up-to-date valuation is paramount in ensuring a claim can be settled accurately.
