Striking Futures Event: A Huge Success
Published: 22nd November 2022
Sheffield Assay Office was delighted to host the Striking Futures Event with the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) on the 3rd of November. This is the first of it’s kind and aimed to bring together NAJ members and non members, students and staff from Sheffield Hallam University, as well as current and potential customers.
It enabled us to showcase the diversity of the office to a large audience who were extremely impressed with our facilities. The team engaged well and conducted tours across the hallmarking floor to many who had never seen this process being carried out and it’s complexity.
It was also great to be able to discuss the beginnings and history of the office and show them our library and share some stories.
After an initial introduction outlining the history of the office and what we stand for, Kerry Gregory from Gemmology Rocks gave a presentation regarding the importance of hallmarking from both a consumer and trade perspective.
The NAJ team were on hand to discuss the benefits of becoming an NAJ member and specifically regarding education opportunities. This was of particular interest to the students attending as well as the courses available through the JET network for retail staff and those starting out in the industry. This was one of the main focuses of the event to ensure that we still see up and coming talent entering our industry and encouraging their growth.
We also covered topics including sustainability, protection and integrity as well as ensuring that all those attending understood our different services, the Analytical Laboratory as well as Diamond Verification Services.
All those involved agreed that the event had been a great success and will definitely be a format which we will look to repeat in the future. To read the SAO & NAJ joint press release please click here.
