Sheffield Assay Office Staff Know Their 4 C’s Thanks to the De Beers Group

Thanks are made to the De Beers Group for their initiative during lockdown to offer free places on their Diamond Foundation Course. Ten members of staff from the Sheffield Assay Office all undertook the online training course as part of their continued professional development.
Ashley Carson, Matthew Hawker, Colette Bishop, Justin Clover, Danny Smith, Amy Guest, Jordan Carson, Rose Ganley and Emma Paragreen all successfully completed the Diamond Foundation Course.
Assay Master, Ashley Carson said ‘This has been a great initiative by the De Beers Group. I congratulate all the staff on their achievement. I have personally enjoyed completing the course’.
Danny Smith, Hallmarking Production Manager said ‘I enjoyed the course, I found it most insightful and interesting’.
Collette Bishop, Laser marker, silversmith and jeweller said ‘I really enjoyed the course, especially discovering all the scientific aspects of diamonds and the mining process’.
The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
