Sheffield Assay Office Rated *A* for Energy Efficiency
Published: 24th May 2023
Energy efficiency is a key focus for many companies. Not only does it help lower bills, it also reduces your carbon footprint. As a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council, we want to achieve positive impacts by supporting the Sustainable Development Goals - reducing energy usage is one of these priorities.
In the last few years, we have made efforts to meet the following 'green' targets:
- 99% of our lighting has been replaced by LEDs
- EV charging ports have been installed in our car park
- Energy usage is constantly monitored and efforts made to reduce it by investing in more efficient instruments and machines
- 266 solar panels have also recently been installed
Sheffield Assay Office recently commissioned a commercial Energy Performance Certificate, which is an assessment used to indicate a property’s level of energy efficiency. This rates energy efficiency from A (very efficient) to G (inefficient).
We are delighted to say that we received a Grade A, which indicates the measures we are taking have made a positive impact on our carbon footprint!
The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
