Prestigious National Bravery Award Winners Honoured with Medals Created by Sheffield Assay Office
Published: 18th November 2024
Sheffield Assay Office has proudly created gold-plated, solid silver medals for the courageous recipients of the National Police Chiefs Council’s annual Police Public Bravery Awards.
The prestigious awards took place last Thursday, 14 November, at Cutlers’ Hall in Sheffield. The ceremony honoured members of the public who put themselves at risk in order to protect others, prevent crime, or assist the police.
Recipients included Ann Wicks, who saved the life of a schoolgirl who'd been stabbed, and Robert Bray, who prevented a woman from being attacked by a man wielding a hammer, sustaining injuries himself in the process.
Winners also included people who jumped into rivers to rescue strangers, and assisted police officers who were struggling to detain violent suspects.
The heroic citizens were honoured with a presentation of beautiful gold-plated, solid silver medals created by Sheffield Assay Office.
The Office was delighted to support the awards and the members of the public who so selflessly put themselves in harm's way in order to save the lives of others.
The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
