Published: 3rd February 2025
Allied Gold recently issued the following press release to announce the official opening of an in-house Assay Office at their Brown & Newirth headquarters.
Press Release
"AG Group marks the opening of their in-house assay office during an official ribbon cutting ceremony by Ashley Carson, Assay Master and CEO of the Sheffield Assay Office. The occasion was also attended by members of the British Hallmarking Council.
The first hallmark struck at the new facility is a stunning triple row diamond-set band fully handcrafted by Brown & Newirth for Wendy Laing, owner of Laings, the prestigious nationwide jeweller established in 1840 and one of Brown & Newirth's longest-standing customers.
Wendy Laing, owner of Laings Jewellers said: “I’m thrilled with my stunning new ring - a generous gift from my husband. Knowing that my ring was the first piece assayed at the new sub-office adds even more sentimental value to it. On behalf of Laings, we would like to congratulate the group on this fantastic new assay facility.”

Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
