Hefty Fine for Trader Selling Toxic Jewellery
Published: 18th November 2022
A routine Trading Standards inspection has resulted in the prosecution of a Manchester business which sold potentially toxic jewellery products.
On January 16, 2020, officers from Manchester City Council Trading Standards carried out an annual inspection of a Manchester-based business. After several pieces of jewellery on sale were found to have levels of Lead and Cadmium that were over 3,000 times higher than the legal limit, the business owner was issued a hefty fine and sentenced to a 12-month community order.
