Celebrating the Life of Christopher Sellors
Published: 17th October 2023
Following the sad passing of Christopher William Sellors, his family recently organised a Celebration of Life that took place on October 8th at Carsington, Derbyshire, the site of their new project which is expected to open in Spring 2024.
Sarah North was able to attend the day on behalf of Assay Master, Ashley Carson, and said "It was a beautiful sunny day that brought together family, friends, colleagues and many from across the industry. Stories were recounted and memories shared and it was great to be part of the day and able to pay respects to the family at such a difficult time.
"It was also a great opportunity to be able to look around the new facility, the C W Sellors National Gemstone & Jewellery Design Centre, which is truly amazing. It will encompass a retail showcase of fine jewellery and luxury watches, as well as being home to their new jewellery manufacturing facility. I know that this was one of Chris’s dreams and has been over 10 years in the making and it was fantastic to see his dream coming to life, overlooking the stunning reservoir and surroundings."
Speaking of the celebration, Sheffield Assay Master, Ashley Carson said; "Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend but Sarah North who works with us went as my representative. Chris will be missed by all who knew him, and all the team at Sheffield Assay Office wish his family well and look forward to visiting his legacy once it is completed."
The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
