AsserGerrard: First Sheffield Customer to Receive Assay Assured Certification
Published: 25th May 2023
This month we were delighted to learn that the e-commerce website www.assergerrard.co.uk, owned by of one of our valued customers, and past Guardian and member of our Executive Team, Mr Chris Hudson, has been awarded the Assay Assured Accreditation.
Assay Assured is administered by the Edinburgh Assay Office on behalf of the four Assay Offices of the UK (Edinburgh, Sheffield, Birmingham and London). Any jewellery retailer that applies to Assay Assured is subject to company verification checks and then audited against a Code of Conduct. Only retailers who pass the audit are awarded the “Assay Assured Jewellery Retailer” Trustmark to display on their website.
Assay Gerrard (part of the Chimo Holdings group of companes), was originally formed in 2006, and is now an established e-commerce website selling high quality giftware in hallmarked 925 sterling silver, silver plate and pewter.
In 2022, to celebrate Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, a range of giftware was created using a special higher grade 958 Britannia silver. This exclusive Britannia silver range not only carries the historic Britannia image as part of the hallmark but also the special Platinum Jubilee hallmark, authorised by The Queen’s personal Assay Master.
Team Principal, Chris Hudson MBE commented
In today's ever growing e-commerce market there are many claims made online that a product is silver, even solid silver when to those of us who know, even from the price, it clearly is not.
How then can the general buying public trust a website claiming to sell silver and/or precious metal products? The answer is to look for Assay Assured (backed by all four UK Assay Offices) as only websites that meet their high and critical standards will receive certification.
Therefore as we want to assure our customers that our silver products are genuine, we decided when launching our new e-commerce website that it should be Assay Assured which I'm pleased to say it is.
On behalf of Sheffield Assay Office, Assay Master Ashley Carson said
I would also like to congratulate Assay Gerrard (part of thChimo as the first Sheffield customer to be accredited to the new standard.
We are extremely proud to welcome them into the Assay Assured brand of good honest practice.
