Jordan Carson
Joint Head of Production (Hallmarking)
Jordan joined Sheffield Assay Office on a part time basis from the age of 16, during college holidays and working part time alongside a football coaching job, before becoming a full time member of the team in 2016.
Jordan’s role is to manage the sampling department, ensuring that all articles are tested and sampled correctly prior to being hallmarked, and that all articles are correctly hallmarked with the relevant standard. Jordan undertakes the important task of identifying those articles that are not eligible for hallmarking, he follows procedures for retrials of failed items to second check them to make sure articles are rejected correctly and backing up results with extra tests. In the last couple years, this has become law for existing hallmarked articles that have undergone a change of usage. For example a piece of cutlery or flatware has been made into a piece of jewellery. Jordan identifies the original hallmarks and issues a change of use certificates to authorise the change of use.
In his spare time Jordan enjoys playing and watching football, he’s a Sheffield Wednesday supporter. He enjoys going to the gym, walking the dogs, going on bike rides and socialising with friends.
