Last week, all Assay Masters met in Edinburgh to mark the retirement of John Stirling from the British Hallmarking Council.

Sheffield Assay Office is proud to be taking part in the Master Cutler’s Challenge 2026, raising funds for Weston Park Cancer Charity.

The Master Cutler’s Challenge is a regional initiative that brings together organisations from across Sheffield and South Yorkshire to raise money in support of a chosen charity. This year’s challenge focuses on improving cancer treatment and care across the region, making it a cause that touches many of our colleagues, families, and wider community.

As part of our contribution, we are organising a sponsored walk and inviting staff to get involved.

Sheffield Assay Office was pleased to welcome students and tutors from Sheffield Hallam University to the Boardroom on Thursday 5 March for an engaging and informative visit.

Following a lecture delivered by the Assay Master at York College & University Centre last year, and a visit by students to Goldsmiths North, Sheffield Assay Office were delighted to welcome tutors and students from York School of Jewellery for an afternoon talk and guided tour of the office.
